NAEA URGES PUBLIC TO SEEK PROFESSIONAL ADVICE ON HS2
Homeowners likely to be affected by the proposed high speed rail route between London and Birmingham should speak to a professional estate agent.
The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) warns today that the proposal of the route could already be having an effect on house prices in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and parts of London.
Mark Hayward, Vice President of the NAEA, urged homeowners to speak to a professional about all aspects of the High Speed Rail proposal and housing prior to making any decisions about their property.
Mr Hayward said: “The family home is for many people the most expensive purchase they make. A lot of people are understandably worried about the impact that the proposed high speed rail network will have on the value of their property.
“It is the firm belief of the NAEA that in this situation, homeowners need professional, qualified advice.
“A qualified, local estate agent who knows and works in the neighbourhood is best positioned to offer advice on the true value of a property in question and to explain the HS2 proposals.
“I would urge anyone whose property is in an area potentially affected by HS2 to speak to a member of the National Association of Estate Agents before attempting to sell the property.”

About the NAEA The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) is the UK’s leading professional body for estate agency personnel, representing the interests of around 10,000 members who practice across all aspects of property services both in the UK and overseas. These include residential and commercial sales and lettings, property management, business transfer, auctioneering and land.
The NAEA is a sister organisation to the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA), as is PropertyLive.co.uk, the UK’s only regulated property portal. The NAEA is dedicated to the goal of professionalism within all aspects of property, estate agency and land. Its aim is to reassure the general public that by appointing an NAEA member to represent them they will receive in return the highest level of integrity and service in both sales and lettings, for all property matters. Both NAEA and ARLA members are bound by a vigorously enforced Code of Practice and adhere to professional Rules of Conduct. Failure to do so can result in heavy financial penalties and possible expulsion from the Associations.
